Had a great workout tonight for my first day back in the gym after a long week off. Needed to take a break but back in there twice as motivated and ten times as focused.
I normally don’t work out on game days but since last week’s game was cancelled and I’ve been a little bit tight this week I figured I’d go get a few reps in to loosen up and prepare for the game. Even did some light cardio. The standings came out today. We’re 4th in the league. We beat the 3rd place team and the 1st place team is undefeated and we only lost to them by 5 points because they stopped us on the goal line three times in a row. We’re definitely taking this league.
Had an awesome leg workout today. Great way to start the week off on the right foot. (No pun intended)
New Years day is one of my favorite days of the year to workout. It symbolizes a fresh start. A new beginning to reflect on how much improvement you have made over the last year and where you wanna go from there. I also like working out New Years day because most people are too hungover to show up to the gym and because all the new gym members working on their new years resolutions haven’t shown up yet. I haven’t been able to get to the gym too much the last couple weeks so today was a great day to get some work done.
So I was just reminded exactly why I started putting all my fitness related posts on tumblr. I put up one of my progress pics with the caption “Focused” on facebook. Almost immediately one of the guys I’m friends with from high school comments saying I’m gloating and need to be humble. Now anyone that really knows me knows that I’ve been an athlete my entire life. Started playing basketball at 6, was a three sport athlete in high school and played numerous club sports in college. My dedication to the gym however only started about two years ago. I’m in there 3-5 days a week, my every meal is devoted to fueling my body, I changed my whole lifestyle to get the results I want and live a healthier life. For those reasons I don’t need to gloat, I am my own success story. I am the most humble person you will ever meet. I only want to motivate others to reach their goals not belittle them. If a girl puts a bunch of half naked pics with her boobs and thong out then it’s perfectly fine. If someone puts up picks showing how much they drank last weekend, it’s cool. But if a guy shows that all his dedication and hard work is paying off then he’s gloating and needs to be humble. Personally I could care less what anyone thinks about me. All that matters to me is what I see in myself. And that is why I succeed. Thanks for listening. And remember, the higher you climb, the more people will be sitting around watching and waiting for you to fall.
Nothing like a great weekend workout to completely balance out a rough week.
